The Florida Highway Patrol wants drivers to be aware of the dangers associated with driving around big commercial trucks in an effort to reduce car accidents with commercial vehicles.
The state patrol recently used the program called Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks (TACT). The program used education and outreach methods to raise awareness among all drivers about safe driving behaviors and the ways unsafe driving can cause accidents among commercial trucks and other vehicles.
State troopers were on the lookout for aggressive driving behaviors such as tailgating, speeding and unsafe lane changes. They say that these types of unsafe driving behaviors can lead to very serious and fatal accidents on the highway, especially when commercial trucks are involved.
The safety campaign also used billboard and radio advertisements to increase awareness among car and truck drivers. The messages highlighted the risk of getting a ticket for unsafe driving behaviors and the importance of using safe driving practices when driving around commercial trucks and other vehicles.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that reducing fatal car accidents can be achieved through educating all drivers about the importance of sharing the road and avoiding aggressive driving behaviors. The state patrol said they are committed to reducing the number of commercial vehicle related accidents and they will continue to educate the public about safe driving behaviors.
Accidents involving commercial trucks can result in very serious and even fatal injuries. It is important for all drivers on the road to use safe driving behaviors, especially when trying to pass slower vehicles or commercial trucks on the highway.
